Rock Band for PS2 not really Rock Band

Rock Band is the hottest new game around and has been out on Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms for some time now. If you've ever played it, I don't need to tell you just how cool this game is. Rock Band not only takes Guitar Hero to a new level by adding drums and vocals, but the create a character feature adds a huge amount of customization and the world tour feature really makes game play exciting. More recently, December 18th to be exact, developer Harmonix released a version of the game for Playstation 2. This was great news for those of us who don't have a cold $350 for XBox or $400 for a PS3 but still wanted to rock out on the new super fun and addictive game. The XBox 360 and PS3 special edition versions were extemely hard to find in stores, but even moreso was the PS2 version. After much searching, I finally found ONE. Unfortunately, the PS2 version is not exactly what I was expecting and left much to be desired.

I have come to speak of Rock Band for PS2 as "Guitar Hero with drums". While gameplay itself is relatively unalterred, the features of Rock Band which really made it stand out were completely stripped away leaving much to be desired. There is NO custom create-a-character whatsoever, and the World Tour feature is completely gone. It is still called "World Tour" in the game's menu, but it does not have near the complexity of the PS3 and XBox versions. There is no gaining or losing of fans, no money, only points. There are no special challenges that pop up along the way a la PS3/XBox, and you don't travel to different cities and play at various venues. It is merely a set list. With out these features, the game really doesn't stand out above the Guitar Hero games, except for the fact that you can add drums and vocals. But, at $160.00, drums and vocals shouldn't be enough to convince you to buy this game. If you really must have it, my advice is to suck it up and go for the newer system. Unfortunately for me, that's not exactly possible on a college student's budget. Buying the game alone was a big enough splurge for me. So, until I'm raking in the benjamins, I guess all I can do is play Guitar Hero...with drums.

Sorry about the temporary site outage there; I was having some technical difficulties with my server. OnSmart.net hosts my site, and I certainly have mixed reviews. Their support staff (as much as I've dealt with them) is for the most part extremely helpful and efficient. Whenever I live chat with one of their tech people, they always fix my issue within minutes. However, their accounts department is not so great to me. They are continuously causing me problems and trying to tell me that I haven't paid for my website. They decided to turn it off a week ago or so when their computers told them I hadn't paid. ::sigh:: This scenario happens all too often, much to my dismay.

Anyways, this post is basically an explanation of why the site was down for a bit. And, NO, I have not fallen into the abyss or decided to start selling actual utensils, despite my domain name. Since I've nothing else to offer you at the moment, take a look at these:

And, finally: Real reason for Shuttle Delay
This week the space shuttle Atlantis launch was delayed. NASA wants you to believe it was a ‘fuel sensor glitch,’ but this genuine secret footage shows the true danger they don’t want you to know about:
